Artist Bio
When Will was three years old, he presented his mother with an elephant made out of clay to her astonished response of “Oh my, it is an elephant!” Since that early time he has felt compelled to sculpt; driven by an all consuming inner fire.
He believes, that the first impression an artist often makes on someone is based solely on the visual impact of what they have created and how that image moves the viewer. If what the artist has created catches the attention of the viewer and draws them closer, it then has the power to inspire or excite them.
He is a storyteller at heart and strives to tell a story in each of his works that reaffirms the human spirit and touches the emotions of the viewer.
Will is a self-taught sculptor who has been sculpting by private commission for over 20 years and is an Associate Member of the National Sculpture Society.
In the early 1980s, Will was hired to sculpt items for several film projects, including the major feature film, “Back to the Future II”.
He later worked in the corporate world for 26 years, spending the latter half as a global account manager for a prestigious high-tech company. This role took him to various countries where he was able to experience the artwork of the old European masters first hand. His passion for art and sculpting never left him though, and he chose to leave the corporate world behind in order to actively pursue his passion.
Will is constantly looking for new techniques that can enhance his craft. This has led him to seek out training from several world renowned sculptors, including Philippe Faraut, Victor Issa, and Andrew Cawrse, who currently teaches masters level anatomy workshops for the internationally acclaimed sculptor, Richard MacDonald.
Will was born and raised in Northern California and currently resides with his wife, Karen, in the lovely San Francisco Bay Area. Both are avid hikers and frequently visit Yosemite Valley and the Big Sur area to experience their natural wonders and tranquil peace.
